raw

dress: therese rawsthorne | clutch: givenchy | shoes: alexander wang fabiana

i find white dresses so difficult to wear. definitely no for a wedding and inevitable stains when taking it out for a meal (knowing me).

having said that, this therese rawsthorne dress really is a stunner. the back can be left open or it has a little clasp if you want to look a bit more demure. it is extremely sheer and tedious to iron, but i still love it.

happy long weekend perthians!

maripossa

have you heard of maripossa jewellery?

it's an australian label which had its debut in 2010. all pieces are designed and handmade in australia by highly skilled and award winning designers.

the designers explore the use of various metals, mixing them together, oxidising and even dyeing the metals to produce some truly outstanding and unique pieces. they even go so far as to crochet the chains together! pretty incredible.

i discovered the brand through the store i work at. to see the pieces in person is something else. you can really see and feel the intricate details. in my opinion this is the stuff worth spending your money on – unique and innovative design, delicate and exceptional craftsmanship and quality materials. compared to a lot of other jewellery designers, i don’t think mariopossa’s stuff is so overpriced and unattainable. (in my opinion) quite affordable for what you get.

i came home from work the other day with the beautiful piece below.

also loving the infinity necklaces and limited edition rainbow alchemist dipped quartz necklaces.

black out

tank: kahlo | jeans: nobody cult skinnies | shoes: aquazzura | clutch: givenchy | necklace: maripossa

wore this to date night with my husband last night. it's not often we get to spend time with only each other, so we make a real effort to set aside a date night each week. it's funny how you can be married and living together but not really spend time together. we both have such busy lives that sometimes we can go a whole day without seeing or speaking until we hop into bed. the implementation of date nights has made such a difference to our relationship, even if all we do is talk about food and our beloved gruffle monster (we lost it last night when another gruffle girl walked past).

last night we decided to wing it go wherever our taste buds led us (or wherever we could find a table). we ended up at the new pop up enrique's school for to bullfighting - brought to us by their next door neighbours beaufort street merchant. tapas style food with a twist. every dish was very tasty in its own right, but altogether was just an overload of rich, creamy, decadent food. too much. we only ordered 5 dishes and couldn't bring ourselves to finish the last (beef ribs with creamy coleslaw).

lucky i wore a loose top...

details of my outfit:

the jeans i got on sale from ssense - way too long for my short, little legs so i chose the lazy option of hacking the hem off with a pair of scissors... i figured the raw edge kinda goes with the rest of the distressing...

the shoes i also scored on sale a while ago from forward. i had been eyeing them off for the longest time and when they went to further discount i couldn't resist. haven't regretted the decision for a moment as they are the softest suede, so well made and, let's be honest here, they look freaking hot.

the necklace was a recent purchase from work which i haven't really taken off. more on this soon.

beach day

top: isabel marant | shorts: ksubi | hat: cotton on | sunnies: karen walker | necklace: isabel marant | bag: random

wore this to the beach the other day. the flowy/maternity-wear-ness of this top is perfect for the heat.

and this is my trusty beach bag - bit glamorous, but so summer.

the kiwis

have you heard of nom*d?

one of the designer gems from new zealand and easily one of my favourite edgy and wearable brands. their design aesthetic hasn't changed much since the launch of the brand in 1986 - loose silhouettes, raw edges and masculine tendencies.

i am fortunate enough to own a few of their incredible pieces, which have really stood the test of time (this skirt in particular). the pieces are not only uniquely designed and well made, they don't tend to follow the fashion trends so much and can be used and re-used each season without dating. about 3 or more years ago they made a halter dress out of men's shirts! very cool.

i've got my eye on some of the checkered goodness this coming season...

have you heard of zambesi?

another brand hailing from new zealand and in my opinion the slightly older and more mature sister to nom*d.

each season zambesi presents unpredictable pieces, being so different from the last yet still maintaining the spirit of the brand. the materials are luxurious and fine with interesting shapes and fits. this season even had a tuxedo jacket that had a gold metal woven through it.

both these brands are ones to check out. in fact, new zealand is definitely a place to keep your eye on for incredible and up-and-coming designers.

perfect black blazer

perfect black blazer
alexander wang | acne | helmut lang | helmut lang

i have been in search of the perfect black blazer for... too long.

of course the front runners of the game are saint laurent and balmain, but who can afford to pay $2,000 for a blazer??

props must got to comme des garcons for their continuing innovation and undeniably cool silhouettes. that flower blazer is exquisite.

probably in the slightly more affordable range comes alexander wang, helmut lang, acne and lover (particularly if they are on sale).  have my eyes on this acne blazer (too expensive), this helmut lang blazer (also unaffordable) and the lover infinity tux (impossible to find). sigh... the search continues.

might just have to settle with my trusty zara blazer for now...
